# Email

Collect an email address and check the format.

An email question stores a string that must look like an address. The public form uses an email input.

This is a field on the form. It is not the notify-email setting on Share.

Use an email question when you need a reachable inbox, such as:

- A contact form.
- A receipt or follow-up address.

> The check is a simple pattern, not a mailbox probe. Notify email on Settings is a different field. See Notify email.

How to add one:

1. Open the form editor and click + Insert block, or type /email.
2. Pick Email from the Questions group.
3. Edit the label. Mark Required if you must be able to write back.
