Request Forms vs Google Forms

Google Forms is the default if you already live in Google Workspace. It is free, unlimited, and native to Sheets. Request Forms has stronger logic, CSS, payments, and signatures. It can export a new Google Sheet. It does not keep a live link. If the spreadsheet must update on every submit, pick Google Forms.

When to pick each

Pick Request Forms

  • You need show/hide logic, calculations, or a drawn signature.
  • You need Stripe on the form, not a workaround.
  • You need custom CSS or a web component embed.
  • You need math captcha or reCAPTCHA.
  • Respondents should not need a Google account to upload a file.

Pick Google Forms

  • Answers must appear in Google Sheets on every submit, with no extra click.
  • You need quiz mode with an answer key and points.
  • You already share files in Drive and want comments there.
  • You want zero new vendor, zero new login, and zero design work.
  • You need the Google Forms API inside Google Cloud.

Questions

Should I leave Google Forms?
Stay if Sheets, quizzes, and Drive sharing are the job. Move if you need payments, signatures, CSS, or per-question logic that Google Forms does not have.
Can Request Forms replace Google Forms for a school quiz?
No. Request Forms has no answer-key quiz mode. Use Google Forms or Microsoft Forms for that.
How do I get Request Forms data into Sheets?
Open Responses and choose Export to Google Sheets. That creates a new spreadsheet. It does not keep updating. You can also download CSV.
